The Public Var is a personal periodical dedicated to helping others learn programming techniques and discussing interesting topics in education. As I go about daily life, I post various intrigues here for others to possibly learn from. Hopefully the things I discuss are able to pique your interest and spur your curiosity.

Why make this site?

I am a teacher at heart. I want to see others grow, and if I can help facilitate that growth, I will do so. Throughout my academic career, I have had the unfortunate opportunity of witnessing many talented peers falter in their motivation simply because what they felt was important to them did not agree with what academia felt was important for everyone. And while I cannot disagree that aptitude in Language, Math, Science, and History are important, the world is much larger than this and children much more diverse.

I have therefore made it my life's mission to teach by inspiration through the development of creativity. The future landscape is changing in all careers and fields, and as computers become better and better at our jobs, creative thought will become increasingly valuable. If we can engender an environment that allows children to more readily explore their passions, then I believe this need for creativity will be met.

Therefore, this site is one of my little ways of exploring my own creativity while also being a genuine resource for fellow programmers and educators around. To teach by inspiration, we must be practitioners of what we preach, otherwise what is said is just words in the air. So, I hope that you and others are able to take away valuable knowledge from The Public Var.
